Young S. Lee, Ph.D., LEED AP, WELL AP, FITWEL, ASID, CIDQ
Director, Innovative Workplace Institute
Dr. Lee is the project leader of this project: Online Benchmark and Evaluation Tool for Knowledge Workplace. Trained in Interior Architecture and Interior Design for nearly two decades, her expertise is in the impact of indoor environmental quality (IEQ) on occupant performance; spatial and design attributes of the innovative workplace affecting the organizational bottom line; sustainable design attributes and occupant performance, health, and well-being; and building information modeling and green design.
She has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and has presented at international and national conferences many times. Her studies have been published in such renowned scientific journals as Indoor and Built Environment, Building and Environment, and the Journal of Green Building. The importance and quality of her research has been recognized by the peer groups through best journal article award, selection of the most read articles, and citations of her work by the practice community. She is currently Acting Associate Editor of the internationally renowned journal, Indoor and Built Environment. Dr. Lee is also a LEED AP and a certified US Green Building Council Green Classroom Professional.

Mr. Schottenfeld is the associate director of the Innovative Workplace Institute that focuses on advancing collective practices of workplace design and strategies for sustainable workplaces. With experiences in the field of facility design and engineering for over 30 years, his expertise resides in workplace performance management and analytics, acoustical engineering, media technology, and design and engineering of performance spaces. His publications can be found in the Journal of Learning Spaces, International Journal of Sustainable Development, International Journal of Environmental, Cultural, and Social Sustainability, as well as presentations at various national and international conferences including IFMA Fusion International Facility Management Association, NEOCON, Healthcare Design, EDUCAUSE, Green Building Council NESSBE, OECD, and New York Conference on Behavioral Research.
Isilay Civan, MSc, PhD2, LEED AP O+M, SFP, GGP, GPCP
Senior Associate, Consulting, HOK
Dr. Civan is the firm-wide Research & Strategic Innovation Specialist at HOK Consulting, where she is responsible for research-based strategic planning, real estate strategy, facility management and sustainability consulting. Her highly diversified educational background, coupled with over 15 years of transnational experience covering most industries and all building life-cycle phases, gives her a unique perspective on how to achieve and maintain truly wholesome built environments.
Currently serving on the EDRA CORE, IFMA Research, Sustainability, and International Standards Committees, Dr. Civan also sits on the Editorial Board of IFMA's Sustainability 'How-to Guides' and was one of the subject matter experts for IFMA's "Sustainable Facility Professional - SFP" credential. She served a two year-term on the IFMA Board of Directors from 2010 - 2012 and chaired the IFMA Research Committee and Global FM International Workshop Taskforce during that time. A published author of two books and numerous articles, she is also a frequent speaker at trademark industry conferences and training seminar. As an active member of USGBC, Dr. Civan has been a GBCI Education Provider Program Reviewer and Auditor since 2009.
